Wat Xieng Thong

Laos, Luang Prabang

I visit one of Laos’ most famous temples. A photo story.

July 2015

While biking through Luang Prabang, we stopped at Wat Xieng Thong to look at the beautiful religious buildings.

This temple is very unique when compared to other Buddhist temples throughout South East Asia. The mosaic style can’t be found anywhere else.

As Laos is part of The Golden Triangle, infamous for its history with Opium farming, we scanned all the mosaics for any drug references. No such luck, although we did see plenty of gruesome death scenes. Including quite a few men being killed by elephants.

The temple is definitely worth a visit! Even if you are suffering from Temple Fatigue.
